✿ Overall Thoughts ✿

🖨 Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d predicted? If you predicted anything.
Much. Fucking. Less. I hate it here. I was really hoping to have finished up The Fic this year, but unfortunately just editing and posting took a lot out of me. I did manage a few other small things, but nothing substantial.


🖨 What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted at the start of the year? Did you get into a new pairing/genre/fandom?
MINSEOK/TAEKWOON?????? rather than a 'new' pairing/genre/fandom, it's better to say, revisited an old one. Well, I've never written this pairing explicitly before, but I sure as heck wrote a lot of vixxo crossover.


🖨 What’s your own favourite story of the year?
Honestly, the 5+1 Hongbin one is just. So soft?

🖨 Do you have a story from previous years you now feel is underappreciated? Better than you remembered it to be?
Every time I look at this question, it forces me to confront my wordcrimes from my entire life, and admit that, you know, I am not the utter failure of a writer I frequently think of myself. But I also put this a bit in reverse, which is that there have been times when I felt Fisheye Lens and run with me deserved more, but there are genuinely serious shortcomings that stop them from being... good.

However, I was able to read some of them a little bit more objectively, and tried to skim over the parts I didn't like, and also felt my heart was being stabbed. By the end of part 1 of rwm, I could feel my heart breaking for all of them. If I ever revisit and edit/rewrite some of my fics, rwm will never be one of them because it's so rooted in being a fandom entity. (This was a huge digression.)


🖨 Did you take any writing risks this year?
I'm not sure. Once again, the closest answer will be 'The Fic'.

🖨 Biggest source of inspiration this year?
All three!? things I wrote this year were.... canon!?!? So, 10th anni filming, Hongbin in general, and Minseok and Taekwoon being.... cuddle and wine buddies.

🖨 Is there a character you've really enjoyed writing this year?
Hongbin. Like, just genuinely such a joy to write. Both canon and AU.

🍃 Do you have any general writing goals for the new year?
Honestly, keep olymfics under 30k (50k?), and finish The Fic.

✿ From my past year of writing, what was… ✿

❄ My best story (or scene!) of this year:
AITA for refusing to take down my fake deer head uh I mean. Can it be one I posted this year instead of wrote? Because it's ABSOLUTELY ep 43 and 44 of The Fic. That entire exchange between Hakyeon and Hongbin is such a tipping point in their relationship as well.

❄ My most popular story of this year:
Haha technically it's The Fic but if we exclude it I guess it's 'nostalgia of us' (which is likely because it got some traction on twt).

❄ Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion:
The Fic/THIS MOTHERFUCKER/UTSDIH/xxzq/星宿の曲
I think there's a lot of shortcomings but I also think that in another universe/at a different point in fandom/with a different fandom it would be... more read. Ha.

❄ Longest story of the year:
The Fic. That's not even a question. Other than that, 5+1 at a whopping 5240 words.

❄ Shortest story of the year:
Definitely something from my vixxmas fills, I think it's the one where hyukken drag Hongbin out to touch grass with them and it's 212 words.

❄ Most fun story to write:
I had so much fun with "AITA for refusing to take down the deer head". The xiuleo was weirdly painful to write, probably because I was just really tired and sick during Nov and Dec, but the initial starting point was kinda fun. The 5+1 and nostalgia were simultaneously fun and also heart aching to write. For obvious reasons.

❄ Story that needed the most research:
I don't know if it "needed" it, but I went in a deep (1 hour...) dive into AITA.

At this point, UTSDIH is kinda the default answer.

🔥 Story with the single sexiest moment:
this was one helluva g-rated year. Something in nostalgia of us but that was more sweet than sexy lbr.

🍩 Story with the single cutest/sweetest moment:
Honestly? the +1 part of the 5+1.

😶 Most “holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you” story:
I LITERALLY HAVE NOTHING I HATE IT HERE WHO AM I

❄ Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters:
i doN'T KNOW MAN. I didn't do any deep dives this year!!

❄ Hardest story to write:
So yeah, there's The Fic which is why I've gotten like. 10 new words out this year. But also there's the attempt at a birthday fic due on november 10 that barely got squeezed out.

❄ Biggest disappointment:
The biggest disappointment in what I did write, or that I didn't do? Because wine and reconciliation definitely is the biggest disappointment. When I say something i've written is 'bad' I don't necessarily mean objectively bad- but that it's fallen short of what I knew I *could've* done.

❄ Biggest surprise:
Taekwoon and Minseok being as fruity cuddly and over-the-top as they are. Also I guess getting bullied convinced by twt to write?

❄ Most unintentionally telling story:
